Markets and currencies

Currency conventions and units across the dataset.

Per-market defaults

MarketDefault currency
Helsinki (HEL)EUR
Stockholm (STO)SEK
US (NYSE / NASDAQ)USD

Some issuers report in a non-default currency (e.g. a Stockholm-listed issuer that reports in EUR). Responses carry an explicit currency (and, per value, a unit) — do not assume the default.

Units per endpoint

EndpointScaleHow to tell
/financialsAbsolute amounts in the reporting currency. In by_year, margins and ratios are percentages (8.4 = 8.4 %); in latest_period.metrics they are fractions with unit: "ratio" (0.084).latest_period.metrics.*.unit ("EUR", "USD", …)
/statementUS: absolute US dollars, unit: "USD". Nordic: absolute amounts with unit: "EUR" / "SEK" for ESEF-sourced lines; lines from older filings may carry a scaled unit such as "MEUR".unit and currency on every metric
/revenue-geographyMillions of the reporting currency.unit: "milj_euro", "milj_usd", …
/companies/screenNative reporting currency, plus EUR-converted copies. Margin metrics are fractions (0.25 = 25 %).currency per row; value_anchor_eur / value_compare_eur

Always read unit rather than assuming a scale: a revenue of 21990000000 with unit: "EUR" means EUR 21.99 bn, while 1250.5 with unit: "MEUR" means EUR 1,250.5 m.

Mixing markets

/companies/compare and /companies/screen can return mixed-currency rows. The recommended pattern is:

  1. Always read currency (and unit, where present) per row.
  2. Either scope a screen to a single market (country = FI, SE, US, or Nordic), or normalise to a common currency.

For ranking across currencies, screen results include EUR-converted value_anchor_eur and value_compare_eur next to the native value_anchor / value_compare. Other endpoints return amounts only in the currency the issuer reported — bring your own FX feed if you need to convert them.
