Chat: ask questions about companies and your sources

How to use Clarifo's AI chat: ask about companies and filings, mention companies and industries, attach your own files, follow up, check citations and move answers into documents.

2 min readUpdated

The chat is the quickest way to ask Clarifo something: a figure, a comparison, what a company said about its outlook, or what is in a file you uploaded. Answers cite the filings they are based on, and you can keep asking follow-up questions in the same conversation.

Ask your first question

  1. Open the chat

Open a workspace and choose Chat (Ask questions about your sources) from the quick actions on the dashboard.

  2. Ask your question

Type your question into the box. Plain language works best, and mentioning the companies or industries you mean helps the chat look in the right place.

  3. Add your own files if needed

Use Attach file, or drag files onto the chat (Drop files here), to ask about your own material alongside the filings.

  4. Check the sources

Click a citation in the answer to open the source. It opens the filing page the answer is based on, so you can read the original.

  5. Follow up and save

Under Refine the chat suggests follow-up questions you can click, or you can type your own. Move useful answers into a document as described below.

Questions that work well

How did Kone's order intake and adjusted EBIT margin develop in 2025 compared with 2024?
What does Nokia say about its outlook and the main risks in the latest annual report?
Compare the net debt to EBITDA of the Nordic construction companies.
Summarise the attached report in five bullet points and list the key figures.
  • Name the company and the period. Nokia revenue 2024 is clearer than revenue.
  • Ask one thing at a time, then refine with follow-ups.
  • For a long written report, an analysis is a better fit than a chat answer.

Work with the answers

Each answer has actions of its own:

ActionWhat it does
Move to documentAdds the answer to a document you are working on.
Create new documentStarts a new workspace document from the answer.
Create noteSaves the answer as a note.
Regenerate responseWrites the answer again.
Show stepsShows the steps the chat took to answer.

Prompts you use often can be saved in the custom prompts library next to the input box, and pinned so they stay at the top.

Your own files

Files you attach or upload to the workspace become sources the chat can read. Supported formats include PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, text and common image files, up to 10 MB each. From the dashboard, Upload files takes up to 10 files at a time.

For searching filings directly, without a chat conversation, see the search guide.

Frequently asked questions

What does the chat know about?

It searches the filings of the companies Clarifo covers and uses Clarifo's financial data. In a workspace it can also use the documents, analyses and files you have there, and the document you have open in the editor.

Which files can I attach?

Documents such as PDF, Word, Excel, CSV and text files, and images such as PNG and JPEG, up to 10 MB per file. From the dashboard you can upload up to 10 files at a time.

How do I know an answer is right?

Answers cite their sources. Click a citation to open the exact page of the filing, and check the figure there before you rely on it.

Can I keep an answer?

Yes. Every answer can be moved into an existing document, turned into a new document or saved as a note in your workspace.
