AI analyses: company and industry reports from filings

How to create a company analysis or an industry analysis in Clarifo: pick a company or industry, add your own sources, and get a structured, cited report you can edit, export and publish.

2 min readUpdated

A Clarifo analysis is a full report written from filings and financial data: structured into sections, with citations back to the source documents. You start it with a few clicks and then keep working on the result like any other document in your workspace.

Create an analysis

  1. Open Create Analysis

Open a workspace and choose Create Analysis from the quick actions on the dashboard.

  2. Choose the analysis type

Company Analysis covers one company in depth. Industry Analysis compares the companies in an industry.

  3. Select the company or industry

For a company analysis, search for the company under Select Company. For an industry analysis, choose the industry under Select Industry and, if you want to narrow it, the Market: Helsinki, Stockholm or US. Leave the market empty to include all of them.

  4. Add instructions and sources

Use Custom prompt (optional) to steer the report, for example to focus on a theme or a question you need answered. On the Sources tab, upload your own files or tick files already in the workspace. Report style can stay on Clarifo, the default.

  5. Start the analysis

Press Start Analysis. A progress window shows what the analysis is doing, and you can cancel it there. You don't need to wait: the analysis continues in the background and is saved to the workspace when it is ready.

  6. Review and continue

Open the finished analysis from the workspace and carry on from there, as described below.

What a company analysis contains

A company analysis is a long-form report with sections such as the company overview and business model, investment profile, strategy, the CEO's review, industry and competition, financial position, corporate transactions, forecasts and valuation. Every section is written from the company's filings and financial data, with citations you can click to open the source page.

The report ends with a Methodology appendix that explains which financial sources were used, how the text was produced and how the result was checked.

What an industry analysis contains

An industry analysis looks at the companies in one industry side by side. It includes an executive summary, a financial comparison table, a heatmap of themes such as pricing, risks, outlook and order books, CEO sentiment drawn from the companies' reviews, and a valuation benchmark. In the financial comparison table you can open any cell to see where the number comes from.

After the analysis

When you open an analysis you can:

  • Edit it in the document editor, like any workspace document.
  • Open as story to read it in a presentation-style view.
  • Turn it into Visual Story cards. See Visual Cards.
  • Download it as a PDF, or in the editor use Export PDF / Word. File exports are part of the Pro plan.
  • Publish it or set it public or private to share it.

Analyses linked to a company also appear on its page under My Analysis. See company pages.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a company analysis and an industry analysis?

A company analysis is an in-depth report on one company: business model, strategy, financial position, forecasts, valuation and more. An industry analysis compares the companies in an industry, with a financial comparison table, a theme heatmap, CEO sentiment, risks and outlook.

Where does the analysis get its information?

From the companies' filings and Clarifo's financial data. Files you add on the Sources tab enrich the analysis alongside that data; they do not replace it. The report cites its sources.

Do I have to keep the page open while the analysis runs?

No. The analysis keeps running in the background and is saved to your workspace even if you close the browser.

Which plan do I need?

Company analyses are available on every plan. Industry analyses and file exports (PDF, Word and others) are part of the Pro plan, and of the 7-day Pro trial.
