Visual Story

  • Wulff-Yhtiöt Oyj · Q3 2026
  • Revenue up, but operating profit down
  • EBIT margin 5.6% (Q3 2026)
  • Quarterly revenue development
  • Operating profit positive in every quarter
  • What to watch next

Q3 showed that Wulff is growing faster through services, but the reported P&L was flattered less by one-offs than last year and still could not hold group margins. The key change is mix: services are driving growth while products are improving structurally, more than top-line wise.

Reported EBIT fell because last year had a larger one-off gain

Revenue rose 15.8% to EUR 36.14 million in Q3, but operating profit fell 13.9% to EUR 2.02 million and operating margin narrowed to 5.6% from 7.5% 35. The quarter’s comparable operating profit moved the other way, rising to EUR 2.1 million from EUR 1.5 million, while reported EBIT included only a EUR 0.1 million restructuring cost excluded from comparables 2.

The cleaner read is that underlying profitability improved, but reported profit quality changed because the prior-year base included much higher other operating income. Other operating income was EUR 0.1 million in Q3 versus EUR 0.9 million a year earlier, which helps explain why EBITDA and EBIT declined even as comparable EBITDA rose to EUR 2.8 million from EUR 2.2 million 5.

Services are the growth engine, but not yet the margin engine

The quarter again shows Wulff becoming more of a Worklife Services company. Worklife Services revenue increased 37.7% to EUR 18.1 million, while Products for Work Environments increased 0.5% to EUR 18.3 million, leaving group growth primarily driven by services as management stated 67.

That growth came from named operating businesses rather than a single acquired step-up. In Q1-Q3, acquired accounting firms added EUR 0.9 million of Worklife Services revenue, but staff leasing grew organically through expansion into growth centers and new locations, and Wulff Ekonomi also had organic growth alongside acquisitions 3. Even so, Worklife Services EBIT margin in Q3 was 6.2% versus 6.7% a year earlier, and management said Wulff Ekonomi’s operating profit decreased from the comparison period 6.

Products look healthier operationally than the flat sales suggest

The more important improvement may be in Products for Work Environments, where sales were essentially unchanged but profitability improved sharply. Segment revenue was EUR 18.3 million in Q3, yet EBIT increased to EUR 1.0 million from EUR 0.7 million and margin improved to 5.3% from 3.9%; comparable segment EBIT was EUR 1.0 million versus EUR 0.7 million 7.

Management tied that improvement to specific operational actions, not demand strength. In Finland, sales fell 2.0% as traditional workplace products declined with the general economic and employment condition, uncertainty affected purchasing by major customers and retailers, and savings programs weighed on public-sector demand; profit still improved because of streamlined logistics and reduced fixed costs 2. Growth within the segment came particularly from cafeteria and snack products, facility supplies and healthcare products, which suggests mix expansion beyond traditional office supplies is helping offset a soft core market 47.

Cash generation was solid, but balance-sheet improvement includes asset actions

Cash flow from operating activities for January-September was EUR 4.4 million versus EUR 3.8 million a year earlier, and the CEO called out strong cash flow and a solid financial position 3. That supports the claim that growth has not come at the expense of liquidity; Q3 operating cash flow was EUR 3.2 million 3.

Still, the stronger cash position is not purely an earnings story. Investing cash flow benefited from the Tuusula warehouse sale-and-leaseback, which increased cash flow by EUR 9.6 million in the period, while acquisitions of accounting firms used cash and lease liabilities rose with lease recognition; cash and cash equivalents ended September at EUR 7.5 million versus EUR 1.5 million a year earlier, and the equity ratio was 39.0% versus 39.4% 8.

What to watch next

  • Whether Worklife Services can keep growing while lifting its EBIT margin, especially as Wulff Ekonomi absorbs office mergers and leadership changes that management says will weigh somewhat on short-term earnings 46.

  • Whether Products for Work Environments can sustain profit gains if Finnish demand stays weak and major customers, retailers and public-sector buyers remain cautious 712.

  • Management kept 2026 guidance unchanged: net sales should increase and comparable operating profit should remain at a good level; the unresolved issue is how much of that will come from service growth versus further cost actions in products 23.
