Financial research in Claude needs source pages

Use financial research in Claude with Clarifo to pull quarterly US filing figures, compare peers, and cite every number back to source pages.

Financial research in Claude works best when every figure points back to the filing page that contains it. With Clarifo inside Claude, you can pull quarterly US company numbers, compare peers, and keep the source link visible for each cited figure.

Why quarterly research in Claude needs cited source pages

For quarterly US company work, the problem is not finding a number. It is making sure the number is tied to the right filing page, the right period, and the right company before you use it in a memo, model, or comparison. Our setup is built for that workflow: we cover US listed companies and return figures with a citation to the report page behind every answer.1 In the same workflow, Claude can search filings, pull financial statements, compare peers, and cite each number back to a source page.2

That matters because quarterly research moves quickly. A recent report may be more useful than an annual filing for revenue mix, liquidity, or segment changes, but only if you can verify the exact page and period. We designed our MCP connector so that you can stay inside Claude and still work from source-backed filing pages, rather than copying figures into a separate workflow first.2

Use Claude for the analysis, but keep the filing page visible for every number you plan to quote.

Connect Clarifo to Claude for filing-based company research

Clarifo for Claude is an MCP connector listed in Anthropic’s Connectors Directory, and it connects with OAuth through the Clarifo account you already use. The connector works in Claude on the web, desktop, mobile, and Claude Code, and the same endpoint can also be used in other MCP clients.2

Once connected, Claude can search filings and report text, pull income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow data, compare peers, screen companies, and generate visual cards. The connector is read-only, so it does not write to your workspace.1

You can ask Claude for a quarterly company comparison and get back a source-backed answer with filing pages attached to each figure, instead of a summary without audit trail.1

Use the connector in the same conversation you use for analysis

The practical benefit is simple: you do not need to move from Claude to a separate data view for every follow-up question. You can ask for the latest quarter, then ask for the same quarter at a peer, then ask Claude to compare revenue, margin, or cash flow using the same source-linked research context.2

Find the latest reported quarter and verify each figure

Our workflow starts with the latest reported period and the page that supports it. For US filings, every read tool returns page IDs, and the filing snapshot resolves those into a SEC EDGAR link for audit-grade citations.2 That is the part you want to preserve in the answer: the figure, the company, the period, and the filing page.

For a worked example, use Qliro AB’s quarterly liquidity disclosure. In its interim report for 2023 Q4, Qliro AB reported deposits in Sweden of SEK 2,481 million and deposits in Germany of SEK 470 million at the end of the quarter. The same page also says cash and cash equivalents totaled SEK 714 million as of December 31, 2023, and that the total capital ratio was 19.6 percent compared with a regulatory requirement of 12.5 percent.6

That example shows the workflow you want in Claude. First, identify the latest period. Next, verify the figure against the page that contains it. Then, preserve the company, period, and currency in the output so the reader can trace the number without guessing which quarter it came from.6

Compare US peers on revenue, margins, and cash flow

Claude is useful when you want to compare companies in the same quarter and keep the source visible. Our connector supports comparison tables, peer groups, and screens, with one table for the companies and periods you compare.1

When you compare US peers, keep the comparison narrow. Ask for the same quarter, the same metric type, and the same unit. That keeps the answer readable and lowers the risk that a later follow-up blends a quarterly figure with an annual one. The workflow is strongest when you ask Claude to compare companies side by side and then use the cited page links to inspect the original report text before you quote the result.2

Start with the latest reported period

Ask Claude for the latest quarter first, then keep that period fixed across the rest of the comparison.2

Open the source page before you write

Use the filing page link to check the exact wording and the exact number in the company’s own report.2

Use the same metric and unit for every company

Ask for revenue, margin, or cash flow in one unit and one period so the answer stays usable in a memo or model.1

Turn filing text into a report-ready summary

Claude is also useful when you need to turn filing text into a concise note. The Financial Analysis Solution describes Claude as a tool for research, analysis, and documentation, with direct hyperlinks to source materials for verification.4 That matches the way analysts actually work: read the filing, extract the relevant sentences, and turn them into a clean summary that still points back to the original page.

Compare the latest quarter for [Company A] and [Company B]. Return revenue, operating margin, and cash flow for the same period. Keep every figure in the company’s original currency, cite the filing page next to each number, and flag any metric that comes from a different page or period.

That prompt format works because it forces the model to do three things at once. It sets the period, it sets the metric, and it asks for page-level citations. If you are using Claude for financial analysis, that is the difference between a useful answer and a generic summary.14

Keep periods, currencies, and source links visible in every output

Do not hide the period in a note at the bottom. Put the company, quarter, and currency in the same sentence or the same row as the figure. For US filings, keep the SEC filing page visible in the sentence where the claim appears. For Nordic filings, Clarifo opens the page render directly, but the same citation habit applies.2

This is also where the product facts matter. We support company pages with income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow in one consistent format, comparison tables, screening, and analysis templates that combine numbers with report text in one document.1 In practice, that gives you a path from raw filing text to a source-backed summary without losing the page trail.

Use the same workflow for follow-up questions and comparisons

Once the connector is live, the next question should stay in the same thread. Ask for the peer comparison, then ask for the supporting filing page, then ask for the same metric in another quarter if you need a trend view. The connector is designed for follow-up questions in the same conversation, so you can keep building on the last verified answer instead of starting over.1

If you want a finance workflow inside Claude that keeps citations attached to each figure, the next step is to connect Clarifo and test it on one company, one quarter, and one metric. Start with a US issuer, verify the page, and then expand to peers once the sourcing is working the way you need it to work.2

What to try next:

  • Ask for the latest quarterly revenue and cash flow for one US company, with filing page citations.2
  • Compare two US peers on the same quarter and keep the unit and period fixed.1
  • Use the prompt box above to turn a filing into a report-ready summary with page-level references.4
